The Technology Place for Nonprofits

July 17, 2010 — 4 Comments

A while back, a friend from Montreal told me about a website that provides technology (hardware, software, etc..) at seriously low cost. TechSoup Stock brings technology donations to nonprofits.

From what I understand, Major corporations donate their products for qualifying nonprofits (i.e. the Church) and they only pay an admin fee for the product.

An example is Adobe’s Creative Suite 5 – Design Premium (CS5)

  • Adobe.com: US$1,899
  • Techsoup.org: US$160 (which is basically an admin fee)

My church is currently in the process of registering. I love it when I see this kind of stuff happening in the “business” world!

Is your nonprofit/church already on board with TechSoup? If so, I’d love to hear how it has blessed what you do.

Are Canadian churches eligible or is it only for American non-profits?

I believe so. However, here are some restrictions:

"TechSoup Stock does not provide donated or discounted products to organizations that advocate, support, or practice discrimination based on age, ethnicity, gender, national origin, disability, race, size, religion, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic background. Organizations must be willing and able to attest that they do not discriminate on any of these grounds in order to receive donations."

At Water Missions International (watermissions.org), TechSoup has been a huge blessing for us. We have used it to get Adobe Products, Flip Cameras, Office, and many others. It is an awesome resource!
