Things That “Drive” Me Crazy

September 7, 2010 — Leave a comment

Good morning friends! Labour Day is now behind us and it’s “back-to-school” day for everyone, including, my wife, a music teacher. With children returning to school, this also usually means that we will need to allot more time for our daily commute as there are more cars on the road. Unfortunately, there are potentially more “BAD” drivers on the road too, and this is the inspiration for today’s post.

Things that annoy me: Bad drivers.

Here are some things bad drivers do that can potentially cause a serious traffic accident (in no particular order):

  • they drive way too slow in the left (fast) lane and think they are in the right
  • they are way too slow when attempting to merge onto a major highway
  • they drive with two feet (right foot on the accelerator, left foot riding on the brake)
  • they brake at green lights
  • they drive with their signal/blinker on and never change lanes
  • they use their blinker thinking they can instantly change lanes/merge
  • they don’t pay attention to ALL THREE mirrors.
  • they check their mirror and don’t think they need to check their blindspot to change lanes/merge
  • they drive way too fast and swerve in and out of lanes
  • they text while driving even though it is now illegal
  • they fall asleep at the wheel

Priscilla and I don’t have children yet, but we both commute and use major highways and streets in the GTA, and these are things that we all need to consider.

*Bonus: This is something else that drives me crazy: You arrive at a 4-way stop. There is another car that already has stopped before you. They have clearly arrived at the intersection first, and clearly have the right of way …. and then they wait even longer, and then wave for you to have the right of way. Although polite, to me, this action breaks the rhythm and flow – that’s why the rule of thumb exists in the first place :)

How about you? What drives you crazy on the road? I wanna hear your stories!
