Is Justin Bieber A Christian?

February 18, 2011 — 8 Comments

Bieber - Never Say NeverThe question “Is Justin Bieber a Christian?” has come up a lot lately. The buzz surrounds the fact that his faith is displayed throughout his new movie, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never.

Yesterday I read an article in The Star titled, “Justin Bieber’s Christian Roots.” The article clearly sets him apart as a Christian and explains that his spiritual side is evidenced when he is filmed praying before concerts.

To be honest, I haven’t watched his new movie yet, but I’ve heard a lot of grown men, such as @loswhit, talking about how inspirational it is:

Interestingly enough, on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Diddy actually professed that Bieber’s talent is ordained by God.

The latest article I’ve read comes from Charisma Mag and features his mom, Pattie Mallette, issuing a prayer request for fans to pray for her son.

Seems pretty convincing if you ask me!

My thoughts on Bieber:

  • We should pray for him
  • He’s an uber-talented young man
  • He can sing
  • He’s a musician
  • He’s making a boat-load of cash
  • He’s influential
  • There’s a real possibility that he might be a legit Christian

Regardless, do you care about this at all? Does it even matter to you if he’s a Christian or not?

When considering the fact that artists are influencing multiple generations, I think it begins to bear some consideration!

It matters to me if he is a believer. I wish everyone was.
He though, has an incredible platform in which he can spread his faith to lots of people. Especially a lot of kids that admire him. Kids are so easily influenced and if he could lead a life a if a Christian man in the spotlight in which a lot of celebrities fail miserably that would be remarkable.

      Thanks Adam! Good perspective.

Let’s pray that he guards his heart!

Fair enough, but it’s important not to get caught in the argument. You’re absolutely right, he’s in an influential position which means at the least, we should pray for him regardless. If he comes to mind or someone brings him up, tell God what’s on your mind….

    Cool thoughts, man.

I understand it is his 17 birthday March 1,today…so let’s pray for him, Johnny Cash came forward for Jesus many times in public …Elvis struggled with the pull of pleasing fans… let’s pray Justin sorts out what he can take into eternity , his soul and others, and not be sucked in my ‘the music machine’ , and people pleasing… King David, sweet psalmist and musician, danced before the Lord, and made even his wife mad…
and he did not care- she was banished…he was not ashamed of his faith…let’s pray Justin will follow David’s example…

when I see him committing his songs and inspiration to God, when I hear him singing about the Love that will never fail a person, when I see him give answers like a mature young adult should then maybe I will be less hard on him. In addition, when he starts contributing to society more (i.e. a show, not about immature love, to the troops over in Iraqi and Afghanistan, or a special song for Mother’s Day), then I will give him more credit.
