Indescribable: A New Book from Louie Giglio and Matt Redman

Louie Giglio (Passion) and worship leader Matt Redman have teamed up to write Indescribable: Encountering the Glory of God in the Beauty of the Universe.

Here’s an official book description from Amazon.com:

Putting this powerful message into print for the first time, visionary pastor Louie Giglio and songwriter Matt Redman team up to write a heart-stirring book about the mysteries of God’s creation. Indescribable takes readers on a journey through the vastness of outer space and into the depths of the soul.

Modern science allows viewers to see farther into space than ever before, and every step draws them closer to the God who breathed each star into existence. In Indescribable, the authors intertwine devotional insights with remarkable scientific facts that awaken both mind and spirit. As Giglio and Redman write, God turns wonderers into worshipers.

Above all, Indescribable is a call to worship—an invitation to know and be known by the God of all creation and to become more passionate worshipers of Jesus Christ.

As a worshiper, I stand in awe of God’s handiwork and this is a book I definitely want to read. Looks like I will be adding it to my Christmas list. :)

Weddings and Why I Love Them

This past weekend, Pris and I were away at a wedding in Parry Sound. It was my first time heading that far north since I moved to Ontario. Right away I realized that the mosquitos there are gargantuan – and they bite too!

We were there not only as guests for the wedding but also to provide music for the ceremony. I had a blast accompanying my wife on piano as she sang (she’s a freakin’ amazing singer too – and not only because she’s my wife… I married her because she could sing ;) )

We were pretty focused on our music during the ceremony so we didn’t have too much time to soak in the moment, but we definitely had a great view of it all:

Where are the Fathers?

I love this song from Israel Houghton which addresses an important question: Where are the fathers?

Where are the Fathers – by Israel Houghton, album: Bishop TD Jakes Presents: He-motions

I finally got into the hotel room, it must have been mid day
Started flipping through the channels, just to kind of drift away
Every other network, show the challenged and abused
And sea of people laughing as the children sat confused

And I saw a mother pleading, with her son to turn away
From the lifestyle he had chosen, full of violence and hate
As the conversation heated, my mind began to race
Somebody’s missing, something’s badly out of place

Chorus
Where are the fathers, the responsible ones
Where are the fathers, have they helped to raise their sons
Look at the daughters, do you see the violation
Do you need more demonstration
Are you really even bothered
Tell me where, where are the fathers

Well then I went downstairs to visit with a friend of many years
And in just a few short seconds, he exploded into tears
Slowly he unraveled, a lifetime packed with pain
I asked him for specifics, He attempted to explain

He said his wife and children says he’s out of control
And it’s adding to the growing scars fully branded on his soul
Suddenly I asked him, about the conflict with his dad
And he didn’t have to say a word, His troubled face just said

Chorus
Where are the fathers, the responsible ones
Where are the fathers, have they helped to raise their sons
Look at the daughters, do you see the violation
Do you need more demonstration
Are you really even bothered
Tell me where, where are the fathers

Somebody tell me, I want to know
Got to know…. Ooooo

An now I standing in your presence, you compassion is so strong
And I’ve wondered how I’ve managed, without you for so long
All I’ve ever needed, Is right here in your watch
Oh daddy I’m so grateful, here my heart inside this song

You are the father, the responsible one
You are the father, and I’m so glad to be your son
Now I have daughters, and everyday’s a celebration
They are free of violation
All because you took the time to bother
All because you took the time to bother
All because you gave you life to bother
I’m so glad, glad you are my father

Israel Houghton Coming to Toronto and Montreal

As you probably come to realize, I love worship and the vehicle of music that we create to express our worship to God.

JonManna.com Featured in Beacon Ads “Creative Tech” Bundle

Last week Beacon Ads released the Creative Tech Bundle and I am pleased to announce here on the blog that JonManna.com has been selected to be a part of this 13-site bundle.

As per the 8Bit team, who now owns Beacon Ads, here’s why the bundle was created:

We create bundles because advertising in the Christian space can be confusing. By bringing together a compilation of the best Christian technology websites, it’s much easier to advertise across several of them at once.

Do you have something to advertise involving music or technology in relation to ministry? Maybe we’d be good partners! Check out your options for advertising on JonManna.com. If you’d like you can send me an email.
